A stage for SHOW OFF

The chance to see the “SHOW OFF” fashion show in the MAK was short-lived – a bitter disappointment for all participants.

A steel construction was set up in the centre of the exhibition as a stage for presenting the fashion scene of 1970s and 1980s Vienna. Architect Gregor Eichinger was responsible for the exhibition design. He commissioned INCOMO and Mathis Esterhazy to conceive and set up this walk-in construction.

At present, there is only this link to time-lapse footage filmed during construction at least to give an impression of the preparations for the exhibition.

16 tons of steel were hauled, joined and screwed together. A logistical challenge, only manageable with the help and technical equipment of the Rabasca Company from Szentgotthárd in Hungary.

And what’ll happen to it after the end of the exhibition? Only the dismantling and removal were arranged with the MAK. INCOMO would like to see it sustainably re-used and reinterpreted, rather than destructed and scrapped. This means that we have to come up with new ideas and cooperative ventures: a landmark in a sculpture park, a stage for events, a conservatory or herb garden?

We’d be very happy for you to get in touch should you be interested in what happens or would like to participate in developing new ideas. A visit to INCOMO would be the ideal opportunity!

We’ll be publishing new articles about it and request you forward this and spread the news.
