A lavender hedge in the garden is not only a fragrantly decorative “privet” – the very word for privacy protection – but also attracts many useful insects, especially the pretty scarce swallowtail butterfly. Each year the hedge grows more and more to become a pot-pourri of different lavender shrubs, in which the lavender sorts of Provence have an essential place.

In summer, the hand-rubbed lavender is filled into cloth sachets and sewn up, ensuring a natural form of protection against moths for months in linen and clothes cupboards.

Nothing is unheedingly thrown away here, which is why there are still some beautiful remnants left over from a 2002 project with West African wax prints and fancy prints.

At the time, this fabric collection filled Jutta Pregenzer with such inspiration that she created her own collection. After visiting INCOMO, she has now made lavender-filled sachets out of these colourful, one-off remnants.

Self-harvested 100% lavender blossoms in hand-sewn sachets made of 100% cotton.
