Pear in all states of matter
There is an ancient pear tree in our garden that actually only bears cider pears yet has been much prized for decades by neighbours near and far. It doesn’t yield the same quantity each year, but the year before last we were lucky and were able to process the excellent harvest in manifold ways. The pears were made into compote, preserved in spices, dried in the tiled oven, and lovingly distilled to pear brandy by a neighbour. In the latter process, the pears were harvested fresh every day and mashed, and monitored by experts during the distillation process day and night to produce an unparalleled taste.
